DFE SmartPac™ units incorporate an exclusive Drive Diagnostic Backbone, which works in combination with the DFE Network Port™ and DFE Duplicator™ units. Each time the SmartPac unit is inserted into or ejected from the DFE Network Port, software automatically tests the performance and health of the SATA drive, and stores diagnostic data on a memory unit in the DFE SmartPac unit. Diagnostic data is stored separately from content, ensuring that content will never be overwritten by this process. Use of a separate drive also ensures that diagnostic data will not be lost when content is deleted.
The DFE Duplicator uses the same system to confirm that both the original and destination drives are functioning properly before the copying process begins. If a problem is detected, the user is alerted, thus preventing the possibility that a faulty drive will be delivered to exhibitors.
